Saturday 23rd - Half a blog

I'm afraid I missed much activity today as I was in a Guards & TTIs training session for part of the day. Half a blog is better than no blog though, but apologies if I missed you out.

Starting off with the dirty gang today, they had two tasks, one to take the axlebox keeps off these bogies destined for the RBr. The BG having a wheelset swap provided a convenient weight for Ian:

And Tony and Bob to crawl around and do the necessary spanner work:

There was also inevitably a shunt to do. The LMS brake has been brought round ready for collection for a short visit off to Welland Steam Rally to provide brake van rides on a short section of track

Then it was time to put the 4th rake together ready for the diesel gala next weekend:

The yard was looking a bit different by the end of the day with most of the carriages usually on our side stabled ready in the first siding, just a couple of unserviceable ones left:

There was quite a bit of work on the south end of the RBr today but I'm afraid I missed all of it, all I got was Phil doing some fiddly electrical work at the workbench:

The CK now in the paintshop is forging ahead with the end maybe nearly in sight for the doors? Simon fits the budget lock on the central door on the Cotswold side:

Steve and Dave discuss tactics in one of the compartments:

I think Robert and Dave were plotting a routing session here, but again I was away for the exciting bit:

Robert and Ainsley both carried on with door work into the afternoon. The Cotswold side is getting very close to the painting stage now, hurrah!

Dave and Kevin continued the major sort out of spare seating, these ones were past their useful lives and are being broken up:

The Toad gang made good progress in the barn on the roof, cleaning up and painting more of the roof hoops:

and taking out the arced part of the end
