Monday 1st. Normal Weather Has Been Resumed.

And for most of us I suspect, thankfully. It was definitely an aberration of the Weather Gods to give us a hot, sunny, dry Bank Holiday, but they have recovered so it was back to cleaning in grey, OKish weather.

So what did we do? All of the usual, those working inside told me parts needed a good clean, such as the floor in the buffet in rake 2 which needed a good mopping, and the toilet floors. Otherwise what we expect after 2 weeks use which included our big event the Steam Gala. The heat caused problems and even needed a reduced emergency timetable on the Monday, but overall all went well. The volunteers on duty did an amazing job in the circumstances.

So first up is David, Tim and Peter washing coach "A" of rake 2 (Chris was there somewhere). As C&M are extending the platform this carriage (of whichever set is in platform 2) will be accessible for a few weeks.

My time was spent cleaning these windows with a Scotchbrite pad. I managed to get the fine grit off but it was hard work!

Rich insists on emptying Ghostbuster bags, although these are not rationed!

Nigel doing his always sterling work. Those chairs are very heavy and he won't just push them into place after mopping, as that leaves a dirty mark. So they have to be lifted.

It's always a pleasure to see a carriage after it has been cleaned.

Rest of the team today was Greg, Jane, John M, John S, Kath, Lynn, Roger C and Val.

And a flashback to the gala. I saw hundreds of these "blackies" in my train spotting days (you were on the wrong railway was a comment from a station staff on Monday!) but never, ever, one as sparkling as 45110 has been turned out today. Stunning restoration job.
