Thursday 8th - Steadily getting there

Taken when the weather had eased off a bit, a good title for this posting could have been something to do with rain. At times it was certainly a trial for the members of C&W walking back and forth to the coaches in the station, though it did clear up a bit later on.

With Dennis still away, it was just Paul from the Works Cleaning team, here spraying carpet cleaner under a table on FO 3132 "Mary". Members of our Toddington Cleaning Team were also back again, working both inside and outside the rake.

Alan and Roger, two of the Indoor Gang, were working on another corridor connection slider which was sticking, this time on BSO 9000. With respect to the large white flakes in the connection, the Painting team have a ceiling to repaint.

Geoff, the third member of the gang, completes another job form, from which our records and the Winter Shutdown spreadsheet will be updated.

The next job for the gang was to sort out a problem on CK 16221 "Abigail/Charlotte" where one of the heavy first class seat backs had come away from the compartment wall. Hopefully Alan is holding the solution in his hands, something that will provide extra support.

The next batch of completed seat components builds up. The second Dean Forest Railway contract is now on the home straight.

And the next thing? This time seats from the former "Flag and Whistle" at Toddington to be re-covered. This is the first.

Three more seats, with more behind the camera, await refurbishment.

When it is completed members of the Painting Team will be applying several coats of varnish.

The next window on the Malvern side of 1675 to be prepared for glazing is loosened for removal by Gerry.

Now being prepared with new sealant by Gerry and Bob.

Phil watches as Bob and Gerry use the air rivetter to clamp the window tightly in place.

Jeff undercoats the interior surfaces of the new shelving in the serving area.

More green primer is added to the Malvern side by Phil. Some final sanding on the south half will enable the priming to be completed.

Bob continues the etch priming of the Cotswold side windows and doorway capping strips, before moving round to begin the Malvern side.

Maurice did a lot more top coating on the GW/SR box van.
