Wednesday 31st - Some you win and some you lose

It all started with the best of intentions ...... 13326 has had a fair bit of surgery, indeed the South Cotswold corner was a challenge because we had to replace the whole structure. The door hanging was the paramount concern, we thought it was close but alas not close enough......

We do fit much thicker hinge mounts, which are drilled and tapped ..... the problem was the Z section was not aligned correctly so there was nothing else for it ...... here you see Gerry making cuts so as to bring the pillar in line, I would add there is no adjustment. The holes have to be right! The outcome will be perfect and will be finished next week, I will post a finished photo.

To continue with the job, the upper centre panel was aligned and tack welded .... note all of the bolt holes which were pre drilled and new bolts helped to hold it in place for welding.

Steve is adjusting the position of holes made for fixing floor battens, these need to be precise so the correct floor level can be made.

A quick peek upstairs, a quantity of seats, backs and head rests awaiting collection for the Dean Forest Railway ..... the upholstery team have been very busy.

I have been helping Rex with the generator mount for 1675 ......

Today it all came together ......

It can be pulled out for checking or removal  ......

Rex has worked very hard with the design and production, the result is superb.

Returning to 13326 .... Ken is drilling and tapping new mounting stud holes on the North corridor connector, a very time consuming job.

.....a bit later and Ken is getting warm, coat removed.

Geoff is admiring Simons work on the servery shelving in 1675

Rounding off with a few workshop shots ......

See you all next week for another busy day in Carriage and Wagon.

As always many thanks to Gerry for the photos
