Monday 4th - Double Sided

9 for the Home Team and 5 Away - team leader John went to Winchcombe to balance the numbers a bit. Also there were Nigel, Rich, Greg and Lynn.

At Toddington here are Kath, Roger C and Val having completed the inside of rake 1. David and Steve were elsewhere.

The Outside Team had a very productive day. They washed all of rake 1 Cotswold side and then taking advantage of a) cleaners who are also PTS holders b) (most) being younger c) no train in platform 1, allowing more work room and d) being the tallest members, they also washed the Malvern side of rake 1 from trackside. You can see it's a long up to the top from trackside.

Paul, Tim and Peter.

Also around today were the gas bottle changing team working on the buffet car.

  1. The men who hand washed carriages from ground level used to fit the large rubber washers from vacuum bags onto the brush handles so that the wash solution (exmover, which was principally oxalic acid I believe) from running down onto their hands.

    1. If they do this on a regular basis they may want that! But I can't see it happening when we have 2 rakes. This week was because it will be several weeks when it will not be in platform 2 - and they do like clean carriages.

    2. Exmover was good a paint stripper on most WR diesels back in the day - God know what it would do to your hands!
