Wednesday 6th - Great team work

Today like all other days saw the teams working together, with problems being solved it makes for a great day volunteering.

Inevitably 1675 is in todays news, Bryan and Rex are making the Generator useable .... so the wheels have to go.

It will be mounted underneath on a bespoke frame, which will enable daily checks to be carried out.

Simon continues inside 1675 with yet more of the vast amount of panelling still to be done.

Trevor is fitting a door interior panel, its fair to say the doors have presented many challenges.

Rod is doing a similar job on SK25488, which is looking fantastic in its new coat of paint. Thats from someone who only paints primer on new metal, and would never consider myself to be in the paintshop standard. - Who said you could paint primer!? :-) -Ed.

Ainsley and Ben are making some adjustments to the South kitchen doors.

13326 in the barn is getting some final checking on the new framework on the south end, I am on the steps welding a new section which will meet up with the cant rail. Corrosion was a concern and was removed back to good metal. Note the yellow former, this gives us the accurate radius on the door pillar  Z sections.
Bob is painting before the outer skins go on.

Ken and Steve are surveying the door pillar, it was found to be in need of replacement ..... so panelling will be carefully removed and a new pillar fitted.

Just finishing a couple of welds on the new buffer plate. We will then be attending to floor bearers, we have yet to survey them all but when it goes on the jack road, it will be much easier to get under at a comfortable working height.

It gets extremely cold in the barn (hence the name) so Bob and Steve have come into the warm and concentrate their efforts on the corridor connector. They are removing some rather rough retaining strips and a large number of threaded studs.
As in the title, great team work.

Many thanks to Gerry for the photos.
