Tuesday 25th - So many things to do

We were promised a fine day, somewhat rare at the moment, so a chance to get back outside. However we also had any number of things to do inside, so quite a choice overall.

Stu kicked off with some more sanding down of the Model Railway coach. If we couldn't paint, we could still get more of the side prepared. He completed both the doorway and the panel to the left, leaving just the "M A I L" imprint as Alex needs to make a tracing (he has already taken a tracing of "R O Y A L"). Bob meanwhile began repainting this side of the adjacent Discovery Coach roof.

A very big effort went into sanding down the Malvern side of Tool Van 4, initially by Ian and Maurice. Stu later joined them when he had finished on the Model Railway coach.

Richard removed flaking paint from the Malvern side of Tool Van 92, while Alex worked on the other side. At the end of the day we had a grand sweep up and general vac around to keep the Paintshop tidy.

Robert does some further shaping of one of the emergency door liners for the Malvern side of RBr 1675.

Back to the subject of removing the old paint from 1675, Tony had a quick go with a powered brush and this was even better than the grinder, so this will be the way to go.

He then resumed his cleaning up of another of 1675's windows.

Pam with her favourite tool, no matter whether with cutter, grinder or brush attached. In this case the latter as she removes all paint and rust from the Barry Van door furniture.

The results look very good. No good telling Pam it doesn't have to be perfect!

Keith initially completed the undercoating on the two new Barry van doors. This dried in time for him to be able to turn the doors over and paint the gloss black on the originally undercoated sides.

The results look good.

The new footboards for the Cotswold side of Tool Van 4 were also undercoated by Keith.

Alan was back on sanding one of the compartment doors from TK 24006. This should soon be ready for varnishing.

Ah, that explains the extra cakes on the counter. "Happy Birthday Dave!"

Dave's effort to tidy up SO 4806 (S&T's Workshop and Mess Room) have really paid off and it is looking so much better.

While Maurice had been helping out recently, Dave had made a start on the other side.

Having lunch up at the station is always very pleasant - just ask Richard, Robert and Ainsley.

The repainted Santa Coach from a different angle.

Three more photos of the lovely cameo with the Usk Goods Office and the newly stabled wagons.

We noticed that three of the stanchions were still in green primer - Bob did the honours and they are now in GW Grey.

To finish off today's post, three photos of the lovely little Standard 2.

With the school holidays now up and running, we had some good numbers on the trains.
