Saturday 1st - Short and sweet

Just a short blog today as I didn't manage to get many photos. Most of the morning was taken up with a couple of meetings, then I had to dash off for a guarding turn in the afternoon.

But starting off with upholstery, Jenny, John and Helen were in today wrestling with another DFR seat.

Into the woodwork shop to find Robert cutting more footboards for stock, the fourth rake having used up most of our supply.

While Simon and Alan were I think making a locker for boots to make the changing room a little tidier.

Chris was traipsing between the woodwork shop and the RBr most of the day with lumps of wood for panel supports.

While John was also on doors for the RBr, milling a piece of aluminium angle for the emergency door.

Stuart, Clive and Andy managed to find a gap in the rain and the service trains to shunt the fourth rake together ready for the diesel gala. Paul and Dennis watch on, no doubt raring to get back to work once their coaches had stopped moving.

As it was a little showery today and there was space, I asked if the tank wagon could be nudged into the jack road just to keep things dry.

It was just George on this today but he did a fine job with the underframe black on the Cotswold side.

Minds are also beginning to turn back to FK 13326 and Ben had a go at removing one of the door hinges "The friendly way" with the impact driver. This didn't work so the unfriendly way is to cut the metal off and drill through.

Finally at the end of the day Greg at Toddington showed me a little test he'd done with a phosphoric acid based cleaning product on the windows heavily ingrained with brake dust. I think the picture says it all, and definitely something to look into further.

    1. Well intentioned - but wrong! It has removed the film covering used to obscure the window as it is a toilet window.
