Saturday 3rd - Visible progress

Sometimes we can work away for hours in C&W and make good progress, but the end result does not look that different. Today though there were some very obvious signs of progress.

Robert started off the day making some adjustments to one of the door liners for the RBr.

While Ainsley drilled the holes in the door pillar.

And the visible progress, a door is hung!

Elsewhere on the RBr, Phil was gluing some foam to the lighting fittings to stop the covers rattling around in their holders.

In the saloon area Simon and Alan started stripping out the ceiling panels for replacement.

It was good to have Dave back again and he cracked on with another door pillar.

Out enjoying the sunshine, Ian and Andy were cleaning up the replacement wheelsets for one of the RBr's bogies, one having been found defective. That one will wait until we have a few more to send away for turning.

Dave spent the morning cutting up more rags, we do get through them quickly!

More visible progress from the upholstery team, who are nearing completion of the first batch of DFR seats.

The completed pile grows larger - it won't be long until they collect them and deliver the next batch.

Not so visible but critical all the same, Kevin keeps on top of all our parts and making sure it's all sorted. A never ending task!

Progress on the santa coach today was good, with I think all of the remaining filler on the Malvern side sanded down, Dave with the pad sander.

Pam and Maurice also helped, and then moved onto the North end to try and catch it up with the rest of the coach.

And finally, most visible progress, my task for the day was to get the Cotswold side in the livery undercoat, and Dave captured me nearly there. Soon be done now!

  1. Does this mean rhubarb and custard colours are back in vogue for other rakes or is this a one off, or two off if you take the pw coach into account I.e using up spare paint? Personally I love the colour scheme but understand it doesn’t wear well?

    1. Just another one off for now, no wider livery changes yet :-) Personally I don't think it weathers much worse than anything else really.
