Monday 9th - After Storm Darragh
The very good news was that we were able to run a full Santa program over the weekend. But a lot of work went into making modifications to The Plan, so that we could continue. A major change was that the marquee was closed and punters took their food back on to the trains to eat it. You can guess the rest!
But first a picture of Toddington - it is surprising how quickly rails go rusty with little traffic.
So some pictures of the inside of rake 1.
And a before and after in "Mary".
John M had first called in on the Away Team at Winchcombe to clean the 1 toilet in use. He reported rake 2 was not as bad as rake 1.
John had also been rostered for the griddle at Winchcombe on Saturday but that was cancelled. So he rode the train to Cheltenham with the first returning group - and, with another volunteer - did an urgently needed tidy up after just 1 trip. I understand others helped out during the day. If we ever do this again we need to organise "Travelling train cleaners". Far better than cancelling trains, but another example on the railway of making one decision having a knock-on effect elesewhere.
Over the 2 rakes it was an excellent turnout - at Winchcombe Greg, Lynn, Nigel and Rich. At Toddington Paul, Peter and Tim washing the outside and David, Jane, John M, John S, Nick, Roger C, Steve, Val and self.
Next week is our last until March.
Well done to all involved.
