Mon 9th/Tue 10th - The overtime kicks in

With just over 5 weeks to go before we need to get FK 13326 into the Barn for mechanical work, we have our work cut out to complete the external painting and varnishing, decorative repairs in the end vestibules, and laying new marmoleum, probably throughout the vestibules and corridor. Overtime is certainly called for.

Monday

Maurice and I went in on Monday to clear up a number of incomplete aspects on the coach painting done so far.

The two ends both had incomplete undercoating. Maurice tackles the north end.

The south and north ends respectively at the end of the day.

The two north end doors and frames had more filling, sanding, and then for the Malvern side some extra greying up.

Several lengths of gutter at both ends had been rewelded after being cut during the rebuilding work. These and surrounding roof areas were coated in etch primer and then later recoated in Flint Grey.

Overall it was a long, but well worthwhile day with a lot achieved.

Tuesday

Many thanks to Keith for capturing some of the days activities.

Continuing with 13326's progress, Richard having lightly sanded the inter-window panels on the Malvern side, now gives them a second coat of GW Cream top coat.

Ian took care of the headstock and attachments, finishing their cleaning before top coating in gloss Black.

Stu painted second top coats on the south connection door and internal sliders from RBr 1675.

Paul worked on the MICA van, sanding down the filler that had been put on between some of the fitted planks.

Keith tends to do a lot of the Paintshop trestle painting. Today was no exception with the remainder of the spare footboards undercoated and this new piece of internal window frame for SO 4798 a coat of varnish.

More spares, this time building up the supply of refurbished ceiling light sockets. These were cleaned up and then given a coat of etch primer.
