Monday 17th - Full House!

And an all time record of 17 for Carriage Cleaning.

Here I caught Roger C, Kath, Nick and Val in "Mary". Many hands certainly make light work so we were finished by just after 12:00.

On my way back checking the train was locked up I took this photo - standing in the shade as it was a very rare warm and sunny day!

The trains were swapped platforms today so the outside team were able to do the Cotswold side of rake 1 and the Malvern side of rake 2 - it was 4 weeks since they could do that. Hopefully our visitors can now see out of the windows on those sides.

The rest of the team today was David, Greg, Jane, John, Lawrie, Lynn, Nigel, Paul, Peter, Rich, Steve, Tim, Val and self. Holiday travellers have returned!

  1. I would have thought that it wouldn't be too difficult for Rakes 1& 2 to be stabled in alternate platforms at Toddington on alternate weeks so that each side of them could be washed on a fortnightly basis rather than the 'ad hoc' method used at present. This would mean that only two weeks' worth of dirt would have to be removed each week instead of the four weeks' worth that the team had to cope with today.

  2. Sometimes other railway requirements dictate which rakes and which platforms are available. This is especially in the first 3 months. It tends to be more under our control from now on - hopefully!
