Thursday 4th - Another day, another load

As 1675 progresses, so does the type of work with two of the Indoor Gang, Alan and Roger, now involved and reaming out the holes in the window frames ready for adding the inner wood framing.

A quick lean out of a Malvern side window to catch Rex cleaning up more welding.

Jeff completes the top coating of the two new battery boxes - Underframe Black on the doors and outsides of the boxes, and gloss white on the insides. These will now be stored away until they can be fitted.

More anglegrinding, this time Gerry cleaning up the welds on the north end of the Santa coach.

On the Malvern side Phil got a considerable amount of filling and sanding done, to the point where he commented that we ought to get this side into the base coat of light grey. This will help show up more of what needs to be done in the way of filling, in particular along the sanded down lower line.

John A., one of the Santa team and also Head of our Maintenance team, recently visited and said that the old toilet compartment wall can be removed. Derek set to and by mid-day the job was done. Sweeping out was left for another day because of the nearby painting.

Now outside to capture the changes following a massive load of pre-Gala shunting that took place the day before. I thought I was looking at the 4th rake, with the 3rd Rake following on in a long line.

Wrong! I was shown a list of the reshuffled rakes and the coaches have been really rearranged. I only had a quick glance, but did I see a 5th Rake mentioned?!

This is going to be some gala!

On the Works siding the Fruit C, Mink A and newly refurbished Mogo are ready to run.

In the quietness of the Barn John records his assessment of the two bogies.

A quick repair being done by Phil? Actually that looks like a new lamp but having a longer length of cable fitted.

Ken is in the process of improving our oil storage in the Barn, creating some new stands to provide a better catchment area for any spillage.

Another Wednesday job was the completion of the new wall separating the vacuum cylinder servicing area from the new window area.

They are almost ready. Pam paints the lower sections of the two Capel Dewi Hall replicate nameplates. Alex will be painting the orange lining to complete the job.

Dave's photo joins our memorial Wall. Hard to believe I was happily chatting to him just a few weeks ago.

[Photo : Gerry]   Finally Gerry captures me adding the second coat of gloss to the new seat. This can now go out on Saturday.
