Thursday 11th - Carriage Cleaning Special!

Due to the Bank Holiday Mondays we have missed 2 cleaning sessions. As the Gala starts tomorrow and no trains running today we thought they might need a clean. Yes, they did!

Greeting us to start with was 31806 just arriving. Despite the weather forecast it turned out to be a warm and sunny day.

Rake 1 was in P2 for a change and Rake 2 in P1. As rake 2 was due to disappear at some point the inside team started there.

The outside team started on rake 1 as it is not often we get the chance to clean the Cotswold side. The south end coach needed a good scrub which was done by Paul.

David celebrated his 80th birthday carriage washing!

Here is Paul and a colleague from the Broadway team changing gas bottles. Hopefully to cook lots of bacon rolls over the weekend. Paul is a qualified bottle changer so today was multi tasking.

As we were under time-pressure Paul then used 2 brooms for washing!!

As you can imagine today there were a lot of others on site doing Gala prep. The Monday garden team here setting out the field car park.

There was also emergency repair work taking place. Trevor and Ainsley from C&W replacing another broken door window. We were able to assist a bit with Rich using the Ghostbuster to get up the glass, as well as them borrowing some brush and pans.

Here's Paul again having moved on to rake 2. And a rare site of Greg outside washing, having finished his part of inside. Told you we were under time-pressure! David behind him.

A brief round up of the other activities:-

A great day's work by the team. All went home in need of a rest!
