Wednesday 31st - A seriously hot day

It's in the title,  a seriously hot day .... especially in overalls. It's what we do come rain or shine and speaking for all volunteers, we love it.

Alex is surveying the next step on the Mica Van, it might look a bit frazzled but the new materials are being assembled and it will look fantastic when its all done.

A little bit more pondering over door hinge pairs .....

You can imagine how hot it was in the upholstery workshop, Laura is working on seats for 4798 ....

..... as is Eve, just the two in today.

It was a little cooler in the workshop , Trevor is adding a small adjustment to the door liner on 13326.

In the paintshop, Geoff is working on Saloon panelling in 1675. It looks amazing and I think travellers will be very keen to ride in this vehicle.

Bob is helping the painting team, and doing loads of prepping around the windows on 4790 which is having a quick re-paint.

Rex is working with Bryan (out of shot) on the windows in 4798 .... this is in the barn, so a little cooler. each window surround is having a new metal piece welded in so it's a bit of a production line at the moment.

The usual lunchtime scene, what better than P&O working a lunchtime train South to Cheltenham Race Course.

Using stock metal, John is creating an outside store for brake blocks .... it will be so much better than a pallet which quite honestly cannot take the weight.

Something different, our new (previously used) 3 phase Mig welder is now mounted on its new purpose built trolley. I even plugged it in and it fired up, all we need now is to fine tune the settings and we have a very powerful and robust welding machine.

Eve and myself took a ride with friends on Thursday, our friend took this image with her phone. I thought it was good so I have shared it with you.

Have a great weekend.

  1. Great work especially in the heat. I admire your resilience. The shot of the DMU could have been taken in about 1960. Geoffj
