Wednesday 7th - School Holidays

It’s that time of the year when we can’t all be there, due to family activities, holidays etc.  Nevertheless there is always plenty to do.

In upholstery, Eve is stripping the headrests from the latest batch from Dean Forest Railway .....

...... Laura has started to cover the latest batch from the DFR, They both finished this batch by the end of the day.

Ainsley lending a hand in the paintshop, looks like hinges.

...... Dave with more work on the trestles, this time varnishing items for the Rbr 1675.

Simon is making a surround for pipework in 1675 servery, and working around a slight height discrepancy.

Bryan is in the workshop, making a tool to undo and tighten the retainers for the windows in 4798.

John is continuing to build the brake block storage cage, once this is finished we have groundworks to do which will involve slab laying to support the enormous weight.

Rod is working on a door closure on the North end of 13326.

Dave is smoothing sections of filler on 4790 in the barn.

Ken is sorting the north end of 4798 .....

Chris enjoying himself cleaning light fittings .

Gerry is either removing them or fitting them ...... this is 4798 ..... lots to do!

We do get jobs dropped on us from various departments, usually involving welding.

A combined effort on window surrounds in 4790.

Finally Ben is making something rather small for a door lock , the hammer looks like a leftover from another job.

As the title said 'School holidays' so, not so many of us in for the next few weeks.

  1. We see regular progress on the wood of the Monster Van, just wondered what was the plan when this is complete? A full repaint, storage or use in freight trains?
