Monday 11th - Bacon Baps Are Back!
Never mind carriage cleaning, regular followers of the railway will know that we have not been able to serve our famous bacon baps as both grills had died after their 60 year life. But today a very efficient and pleasant contract service engineer was fixing the problem.
These were made by Parry a long time ago (I presume when the carriage was built about 60 years ago, but you may know different!) and, surprise, surprise, they are still in business and spares are available. Currently based in Derby.
Back to the reason for this blog, Carriage Cleaning! As forecast last week we were down to just 8 this week, holidays and illness taking the number right down. So it was Greg, Kath, Lynn, Nick, Paul, Peter, Tim and self. This meant basics only so Malvern side of rake 1 washed, rake 2 not washed. After washing rake 1 the outside team (Paul, Peter and Tim) changed hats and helped the others clean inside rake 2 after the inside team had done rake 1 inside. I helped out with toilets and a dash with the "ghostbuster" vacuum. Some spot mopping was also done by Kath and Tim.
At least they look good after.
Brilliant you chaps and ladies.
