Monday 4th - Record 14 for Carriage Cleaning!
But 6 of them are on holiday next week..........
Here are 9 of them - Kath, Tim, David, Peter, Paul, John and Nick. In the very far distance are Roger C and Val. Roger C is already a guard on the railway and his wife Val wants to join Carriage Cleaning. So she came on a "taster" today ahead of her induction later this month. As Roger is the car driver he has to join too... Elsewhere were Greg, Jane, Lynne and Rich.
Outside washing of course took place, Tim, Peter and Paul now have an excellent routine worked out. In the 30°C heat this side it is necessary to do it in small sections as it dries so fast.
With such a good turnout we can start to do some of the things on our "wish list". I had another go at the window frames in "Mary", with Cif and a toothbrush as tools. Hopefully you can see the part that has been done. Kath later gave the checker plate and metal skirting in the buffet car corridor the Cif treatment.
It was fortunate to have such a good turnout as due to the bank holiday it was 2 weeks since rake 1 was cleaned and 3 weeks for rake 2, as that also missed out because of the weed killing train. I'm only expecting 8 or 9 next week, so back to basics.
