Monday 3rd - Another Hot One

Apologies for the few photos, it was too 'flippin 'ot! 32°C in the car on the way home.

Rake 1 in P1. Because it was on a charter last week this was the first time it has been cleaned inside or outside in 2 weeks. Inside it was not "dirty" but lots of small litter. As I went down the train with the GTech it also meant crawling under the seats frequently to pick up bigger items. Kath was following me with the long handled dustpan to put the bits in and also some sweeping. John M was on toilet duty and Greg, Jane, John S, Lynn, Nick, Nigel, Roger C, Steve and Val were the others inside. It was too hot to stand and chat much!

It's all diesel running at the moment, due to fire risk. Some of you may have heard that a diesel blew a turbo and spurted oil everywhere. As below

So the outside team of Peter, Tim and Dave (and Chris after his first duty as a trackwalker) had to first go down the platform facing sides of each rake to degrease the oil. Fortunately the have now found a good product that is OK with the paintwork. After

Just to finish a pic of a nice clean inside

and Peter and Tim finishing the outside of rake 1.

We were down on Saturday for a day out and happened to meet Glyn Cornish, membership secretary. Fortunate as he had had Kath's 15 year volunteer certificate and badge in his car for a year! So he was able to present it at last.

Thursday we are back again with lots of Teddy Bears for company at Winchcombe Station.

  1. Having spent many a day volunteering with mary green, it was a bit sad to see her carriage looking a bit worse for wear today.
    Any chance!
