Saturday 4th - Weekend variety
A busy day with 22 attending. At one point I began to wonder whether there would be much of a posting as I had to assist Graham and Bob with the varnish preparation on SO 4798, but we achieved what was needed in good time.
Beginning with 4798, Alex got cracking with the coach end data. Meant to photo the final result - sorry, will make amends on Tuesday.
There are always loads of "the little jobs" - all the small bits of tidying up to get done before the coach can be said to be finished. Phil tackled a number of these, including securing the catches and locks on the access cupboards in the south vestibule. There are still items to fix in the toilet compartments and I noted that one of the internal window frames needed more varnish.
With all the scotch brite keying and subsequent wipeover with tack cloths completed (all that hard rubbing is surprisingly hard work), Graham and Bob got going with the second coat of varnish on the Malvern side.
The view from my steps. There is still an area to do at the south end, which in turn enabled me to do a few bits of paint snagging. Hopefully we can get this and the outstanding area on the Cotswold side completed next week - the "hopefully" referring to the predicted 30C (feels like 32) temperatures, which are the last thing we need.
I stopped the scotch brite rubbing to snatch a quick shot of Jenny, Bob and Phil having a break in those lovely comfy seats. Bob was waiting for Graham to get a good head start with the varnishing of the upper section before he followed on with the lower section.
Underneath the Mink D van Alex is cleaning off rust.
Ken was preparing a length of steel threaded rod for a job in the GW Inspection Saloon.
On the other side of the Barn James is repairing the next window on the Cotswold side of SK 25451.

At the north end of the coach Alan is welding two pieces of gutter.
........ in a variety of moquettes.
It was a Red plus timetable in place for today, the plus being the Bubblecar.
The roof end from where the gutter was removed. New sheet metal has been welded in place and then coated in red oxide.
The interior of newly acquired TSO 3961. Some of the seat cushions have already been taken to Upholstery for refurbishing. This will make a good "before" photo. I wonder how long it will be before it looks like the interior of SO 4798.
It's after lunch and Jenny has been busy.
Laura makes adjustments to the overlocker.
Carol is busy making more keyrings .........
A very unusual moquette being made into a door stop. Apparently this was a bespoke request.
The first return run of the day for Rake 2 with 45110.

"Betton Grange" waits with Rake 1.
Some close-ups of Black 5 45110.

The kitchen in the GW Inspection Saloon is looking pretty wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to further coverage of TSO 3961.
All the vehicles in C&W are looking splendid. 3961 will get there, I'm sure. Yes, the temperatures are due to soar again! My little dog is panting on virtualy every walk, that is why I take a water bottle for her on every trip. She also likes going into the pub on weekends, as there's always an extra treat for her there. And lots of fuss! Great photos David.
