Saturday 30th - An excellent job done!

A day to celebrate, as it's not just a job done, but a job very well done. Definitely flying the flag for C&W are Upholstery with their first contract from the Forest of Dean Railway now completed.

Everything neatly stacked and packaged ready for collection.

The initial batches completed were collected when more of the Boomerang moquette was delivered.

The second contract for a Mk 2 coach is well underway. A mix of refurbished and original seat sections on one of the shelves.

Laura prepares more sections of moquette for the smaller Mk 2 seats.

Jenny setting up one of the new sewing machines.

A small job for our Marketing Dept involves sewing two rounds of moquette to the base of some Easter Bunny feet to provide more comfort for the wearer. Laura uses the new overlocking machine to create a secure edge to the rounds.

On to something very different with James and Alan involved with more welding at the north end of FK 13326.

Meanwhile at the south end, which will require the same level of repair, John begins the removal of the corridor connection.

In the Paintshop the buzz of padsanding was very much in vogue again, with the concentration today on the Malvern side of SK 25488. While George cleans off more of the sticky residue from the plastic tape used for lining out, Pam sands the lower panel at the south end. I later completed the preparation of the north end door, but the top section of the doorframe will require some filling and more cleaning up.

Pam has done very well with a large area now given a thorough sanding.

Moving along to Tool Van 92 where Clive is sanding the door window frames on the Malvern side.

Maurice has done a heroic job coating the van with wood primer. He is on the home straight on the Malvern side.

Much later in the day both had moved round to the Cotswold side, with Clive now helping with the primer.

Chris has removed the badly worn step from the Cotswold side of No.92, and with help from Robert proceeds to cut a new piece.

It's always a pleasure to improve the look of tired vehicles. Having done a good job improving the Malvern side of the ex-Army RBR, Dave moves round to the Cotswold side. Although this won't be seen by our travelling public, it's nice to know that care is still taken.

Following on from the efforts of the Monday Cleaning Team, Paul has tried Stu's magic compound followed by a good wax polish on parts of BCK 21092 and the results look very promising.

Now for something completely different from coach polishing, Paul vacuums the lobby and stairs.

Our stores manager Kevin spent a lot of time emptying one of our vans. Now for a bit of building maintenance.

TSO 5042 has been a while on the jacks. The steam leak was repaired and a lot of work has been done on the bogies. Tony oils up prior to the coach body being lowered back down.

Later on I captured Andy lowering the body back down.

On to RBr 1675 with Tony cleaning up another of the window frames.

One of RBr 1675's Malvern side windows is clamped ready for rivetting in place.

Phil doing a battery powered test on 1675.

Also on the Malvern side Robert tests the clearance with the top of the frame on one of the wider access doors.

Some fine adjustments to the frame section back in the Woodshop.

Ainsley preparing a liner for one of the emergency doorways.

We make a lot of our own stuff in C&W, the advantage over bought items is that they can be tailored to fit the situation. This is certainly the case with this new work bench being created by Simon in the Woodshop. It be interesting to see it when completed.

And now to wrap up a very busy day.

Before closing up the Barn, a final shot of TSO 5042 lowered back on its bogies.

There is still a lot of preparatory work to do with 25488, but we are making progress.

The traditional meeting of the End of Day Tea Club. It is now well past 6, we're happily chatting, enjoying a welcome cuppa, and nobody is in any hurry to go.
