Monday 16th - DMU Again

2°C to start the day - contrast from last week when it got up to 23°C!

We are in to the season when things get a bit different. Last week and this week is the Blue timetable every day - 1 steam and 1 DMU. But just to vary it, last Tuesday the choc and cream set had carriages shunted about, so maroon rake used for just the 1 day. Fortunately Kath was able to whizz through as it was in good order apart from one spot.

After cleaning inside rake 1, and washing the outside (Paul and David full time and Jane and myself part-time) the inside team descended on the DMU. With all the "stuff" in the yard it was down to the very end and walk back up to the unit. Above is Nigel and Roger C at work.

This was just a small section of the carpet in the First Class compartment - the rest was just as bad! General agreement we have never seen it like this before. No matter, GTech soon sorted it out. You can see where the vac has made a start.  But it did make it worthwhile to take the long walk!

At the other end of the unit Greg and Lynn were cleaning windows.

The rest of the team today were John, Rich and Val.

And how is our polished carriage doing? I did a check and it still looks good - but I forgot to take a photo. But since our last effort we have been unable to raise a team to do other carriages, so it looks as if it will be next year before we can do more.
