Wednesday 16th - More to do

Today was to be a major push with 1675 south end structure, but it seemed there was more to do than we realised. Although we made good progress, we keep finding more to do.

A regular photo, but for the keen eyed you will see work has now started on the North end. Chris was given the task of stripping the outer skin, in somewhat of a bad state. We have the technology we can re-build it.

A taped off area on a work day? Indeed we have contractors repairing the roof.

Inside 1675 Derek is making good progress with the saloon floor, in fact we have to crack on to stay ahead of him.

I found them, Geoff and Colin aka 'The Chuckle Brothers' our highly experienced carpenters.

16221, all of todays upholstery team in one compartment, fitting seat sets.

Ken is making some adjustments to radiator cover mounting brackets.

As previously mentioned Chris is tackling the North end, he is our latest volunteer and is making a valuable contribution to the team.

This is the bit which has taken a little longer, but Gerry is forging ahead and hopefully pretty soon we can say this section is complete.

Dave is very Kindly priming the new side skirt panels for 1675.

Now where did Gerry get this from?

This is why a section of workshop was cordoned off, no more rain getting in.

A little later, Rex and Gerry are using the old window pattern to plasma cut a new one.

It never stops but we love it!

  1. I liked the reference to "The six million dollar man" but hope it doesn't cost six million. 1675's floor does seem to coming along nicely. Also too, are the compartments of 16221. Well done to you all.
    Regards, Paul.

  3. Alex mentioned in the Blog a few weeks ago that the rear door configuration on the MOGO wagon was a split configuration. We have one in the SMG collection at Locomotion in Shildon which I mentioned. The one that we have has single doors at both ends. I do have a couple of photos for reference if you are interested but am not sure how to get them to you.

    1. Thanks Dave, I've seen some pics of the Shildon one, along with plenty of other Mogos. It seems ours is unique!
