Wednesday 2nd - A mad day

As the title suggests, it all started ........  first job of the day.

1675 North bogie, re-fit slide blocks ( thats what I call them ) .... my new overalls aren't very new now.

Then gather up the working welder and return to the team, aligning the west side end panel.

It did put up some fierce resistance ...... but these panels are a very good fit.

Bryan was on the scaffold tower giving instructions, left a bit, right a bit ......

Now thats spot on .... all held in place by clamps ready for welding. It was a bit late in the day for applying heat ( fire risk ) but we were happy with the fit. It shouldn't be too long before this end is finished and we can do the same to the North end.

It is a bit fiddly but the end result is well worth it.

1675 kitchen area is now a lot tidier, lower left of the pic. will be a service duct for all switch gear etc.

This is one of two bulkheads which will form the service duct ..... John V. and Bob S. worked together and finished the Job by lunchtime. A few technical issues made welding machines unavailable, so John went back to the old style of stick welding and did a fine job.

John had indicated, ooh an early finish .... er no more cross bearers please, not many left to do.

Now where is that tape measure?

Derek is looking at the corridor connection, and said we can put this back on today ..... yeh right!

Ken A. is busy with some bench work.

Trevor is aligning a door lock on a 'quarter door' ( thats what I call it ). These doors were in a sorry state, but as always they have been resurrected  to better than new.

Rod W. did say what he was doing but at my age .....

Geoff and Derek are discussing the floor and the side skirts, when and how. New panels are on order with South Devon Engineering, hopefully they will arrive just in time.

In all the running around I did drop into upholstery, busy as always.

So it was a mad day, but we made yet more good progress.
