Wednesday 5th - The whole team together

It does happen when all metal work team members are in on the same day, and so it happened.

In the kitchen on 1675, this bulkhead is being re-positioned to make space for switch gear and generator remote controls ..... Thats Bob doing the honours.

After removal, Bryan and Bob discuss the new location and fixings.

Meanwhile at ground level Rex is clamping into position the third crash pillar.

Thats all four pillars done, lots of cleaning up to do. Rex has cut a small notch by each pillar to allow any water getting in, to get out and thus deter any future corrosion. Next week we will be fitting the new outer end panels.

Ben doing a very messy paint strip job, note the gloves and eye protection.

The workshop, a hive of activity.

Derek is steadily moving towards the saloon, bolting on new floor supports to the new cross floor bearers.

Bryan is removing the next door pillar, north end 1675.

Rex and Ken are investigating the fixing of next weeks end panel fitting. These panels are one piece left and one piece right hand, they are heavy so we will be using acrow props to support the weight while we position them accurately.

No blog is complete without Colin and Geoff, this time munching do-nuts care of Bob S. They admitted they like being known as the Chuckle Brothers.

Thanks to Gerry for his photographic input.

He did this last pic of me welding the roof panel.

More next week.

  1. Hello Nick,
Great work being done by you all, I delivered three boxes and and a bag of cloth/sheets/pillow cases on Wednesday and a very kind young man took them from my car and left them by the stairs as I am unable to lift anything, I did ask his name and he told me but I managed to forget his name!!! The grey boxes can be used by yourselves and when I next visit there will be a few more of these boxes, BTW I did not know how big the works was! Hopefuly see you soon as the doctors give me the all clear after the next operation
    Regards
