Tuesday 4th - Time to celebrate

Another good day and definitely one to celebrate.

The final bit of roof painting is finished and with that the Toad brake van refurbishment comes to an end. Once again our hard working Wagon team can be very proud of their achievement. Well done Richard, Maurice, Paul and Stu.

Maurice and Stu were now available to help repaint parts of the Malvern side of CK 16221 in light grey undercoat, following all the extra filling and sanding reported in the last two Works postings.

The sanded maroon was the result of some training sessions in top coating.

Job almost finished and this side now looking very much better. The lining tapes can now go on and undercoating begin.

Alan cleans up thr unpainted parts of the north end bogie on the Malvern side.

The Cotswold underframe is looking good following Ian's painting.

Ian gives another coat of black gloss to the battery box cover, and tidies up the edges of both this and box itself.

The Malvern side sole bar is next - a joint effort!

The completed Malvern side of the bogie. The bogie for the south end will be painted in the Barn, probably before it replaces the temporary one underneath the coach.

The repaired U section that Ken had been working on, attached to the rubber on the south end connection for RBr 1675.

Inside 1675 Derek was attaching more floorboard supports to the crossbearers, as can be seen below.

A topview of the heavy base plate and the new sections of crash pillar - the two on the left completed, those on the right to be welded in.

The two quarter doors (in reality about a third width) retrieved from storage for the Malvern side of 1675. The originals were beyond repair.

Keith once again had a wide range of items to prime and paint - coach steps, the scotches for the road-rail machine and some tools. The aluminium window slides of one of the CK's compartment doors was also cleaned up with wire wool - all will be done along with the remaining internal window frames. The corridor connection parts for 1675 were also coated in ored oxide.

Mike and Paul, two of the Railway's PAT testers, were giving all our electrcal cables and equipment the annual inspection and updating the labels,
