Thursday 3rd - Quieter but just as busy

 Just a short posting today.

Beginning with the electrical work on RBr 1675, checking and testing continue. With Nicole watching, Richard I and Phil refit the side of the heavy generator casing.

It was good to see Nicole back again even though just for the morning, her busy life at Cardiff University restricting her volunteering to just an occasional basis.

She and grandfather Richard I were now repairing a tail lamp.

Richard II was make some slight adjustments to one of the internal circuits.

The complex circuitry diagrams, well to me anyway. Richard would say they were simple.

In the kitchen area the cooking and related equipment waiting to be installed.

The two Richards now back underneath 1675.

Dave and Phil bring in the sink units destined to go back into SO 4798 when the rebuilding of the toilet compartments has been completed.

Work continued with TSO 5023 with more secondary filling and sanding on the Cotswold side. Maurice began with the cleaning up of the centre doorway much of which had already been sanded, but closer inspection soon reveals that more is required.

It was quieter today with pad sanders used less frequently. Phil uses his to flatten secondary filling along the rivet line on the Malvern side.

The initial greying up soon reveals what has been missed. Bob adds more filler to the Cotswold side toilet compartment window frame.

Phil now undercoating some of the windows on the Malvern side. The sanding of the rivet line on the south half had been completed with 240 paper, making the surface incredibly smooth.

I was working at the north end on this side, adding and sanding secondary filler where required, in particular around the toilet compartment window.

Ian, our latest recruit to the Painting and Prep team, in his other role as part of the WSMD and assisting the members of the COLAS RAIL group who have kindly volunteered to help us treat the fencing around the picnic area off Platform 1.

We were running the Green timetable which means a diesel on Rake 2, and today it was the Class 20 being driven by owner Steve. "Foremarke Hall" drifts in with Rake 1 on the Cheltenham train. It's back to Red on Saturday with steam on both trains.

It's only three weeks to the summer Diesel Gala with now two guest locos coming - Class 37 D6700 and Class 50 50021 "Rodney". C&W will be open to visitors as usual on all three days.
