Saturday 7th - Storm what storm?

Another grey wet 'Summer' day, but at least no sign of much storm activity. I poked my nose out the side door to see Dinmore Manor steam past and noted the hills in the distance were completely covered.

So, starting off with the tool vans where No.4 is coming on very well. Maurice started off by sanding down a few bits of polyurethane glue used to fill in any gaps.

And this panel soon had its first coat of epoxy primer.

Robert made great strides in the woodwork repairs, these end planks were cut in and fitted, now to chisel out the rotten bottom of this corner post. It's surprising how hard the wood still is underneath a few mm of rot sometimes.

Less so on this corner though, lots of very spongy material. Still cogitating this one.

Adjacent Pam soldiered on with paint removal on No.92.

End of the day and the customary big sweep up - these projects are creating a lot of dust so we have to keep on top of it.

Onto the RBr then and there was a project meeting in the morning with some members of RCS also attending. Given the presence of Phil and Richard I imagine discussions were on wiring at the time.

The saloon area is beginning to come together with some more bits of panelling going on, Steve Simon and Alan working on this end.

While Dave was on the Cotswold side.

Ben was fettling another door liner.

It fits!

Dave made a small start on removing the old paint on the Cotswold side. This will be a long job so we thought we ought to make a start even if it will be a while before painting.

Upstairs just John and Laura today, they were figuring out how Mk2 seating goes together - a new challenge for them - for the DFR. New templates have to be made to start off with, but they're flying blind to an extent as we've not fitted any Mk2 seats before so it's not always clear how they all the bits fit together.

Back downstairs and Phil is cleaning up another lighting run, while Dave is priming the wood construction for the tank wagon ends that Chris has made.

Just John soldiering on in the barn today working on axleguard liners - not sure where these bogies are destined for?
