Wednesday 2nd - Not much to do .... Really?

It started as a day with very little to do, especially for the metalwork team. It didn't last, for up coming reference we need a reasonably accurate count of cross floor bearers on{ hopefully } our next project.

I will give more info as it becomes available.

Bryan and Rex did the honours with the counting.

So in a very empty paintshop, there is still work to be done ..... Dave is painting some very necessary safety guards, for when a door is off these fit snugly in place to prevent anyone standing back to admire their work. Its a long drop.

Ben under stress ..... or Lock under test?
He is testing the spring tension whilst the lock is held in a purpose made jig.

Trevor is putting the finishing touches to these fantastic new door window surrounds.

A team chat in the upholstery workshop.

Colin and Geoff, doing what they do best ....... They do like their photos taken especially when they are working. As you can see they are working in the cold, hence the woolly hat and body warmer. The space heater in the workshop was being serviced ..... it was very cold in there.

Gerry took this photo of me, we have made a large number of steel feet for our new barriers. These will be much better than trying to stick steel spikes into some well compacted ground, we use the barriers to prevent anyone from straying during Galas.

Rex was preparing the steel plates ready for me to weld, we had a production line going so by the end of play all that is needed, is some TLC in the paintshop.

Ken always busy, seen here threading steam heater pipes.

Another golden opportunity, was to tidy up and repaint our Acetylene safety cage .... this lives outside and is locked securely.

A quick return to Bryan and Rex, they drilled and countersunk the mounting holes for the previously mentioned safety barriers.

With Gerry assembling the barriers, that's some of them on the floor.

Its that door again on 16221, but this time with some careful lining up we have a result.

With a short move required, we had to resort to our own motive power. They weigh 34 tons but move fairly easily.

The end of another day, with not much to do!
