Some lockdown pictures of the GWSR.

Although C&W is back to "the new normal" now, Nick had a few more photos to share, from the first lockdown earlier in the year, and they were too good to sit on! -Ed.

I thought this week, we could stay with the Railway theme, so here is a small selection from the long lockdown.

This view is from Springfield lane bridge, looking south to Broadway station. Before the railway came to Broadway this was the coaching route through Broadway, up Fish hill and away to the Cotswolds. We now have Station Road.

A very empty Broadway station, in perfect weather.

This is Springfield Lane bridge, looking toward Broadway

The bridge is in a very poor state of repair .....

I am standing on the track bed looking south, the bed behind me goes to Honeybourne. It is very overgrown but there are many bits lying around telling what once happened here.

A little further south is Pry Lane bridge, this is our Railway now so is obviously kept in good repair.
I apologise about the dustbin ..... no photo shopping here ....

No trains, nobody except us at Laverton footpath crossing.

Even the sign was lonely. (I'm sure a nice black and white GWR cast sign would look more at home! Ed.)

The only sound was 'The Skylark'.

I have to own up, this may have been used before. It was taken after lockdown was modified, hence the roller shutter is open on the Barn ..... we were high on the hill to the East of Winchcombe.

Lastly from a very long way away, at last a Train ..... lets hope 2021 brings many more images like this one.

  1. Looking at those distant pictures of Broadway station, it's a bit hard to recall that not too many years ago, there was absolutely _nothing_ there. It's a fine memorial to those we've since lost, who all worked so hard to bring it to us (not to forget those are thankfully still with us, of course).
