Wednesday 12th - Warm enough to work inside

A tongue in cheek title,  the barn was like a fridge but the main workshop was heated. Steve opted to work outside ...... very brave.

He spent the morning drilling out and aligning the end uprights on the Open C wagon.

top job, with just a bit of tidying up next week.

Meanwhile in the warmth of the workshop, we identified a need for a demarkation line alongside our new metal rack ...... John obliged with painting this lovely yellow line.

Rex and Gerry needed a few holes welding up so I obliged, too cold to stay in the barn for long .... must be my age!

With the sparks flying Rex worked on the other side of the carriage.

Then to machine the wooden glass retainers.

In upholstery some muscle was needed to move a new roll of moquette from a shelf, and on to a pole under the work table. Simon and myself couldn't find any muscle so we did it.

Ceri (apologies for incorrectly spelling your name last week) Laura and Eve finishing the last of the present batch for Dean Forest Railway.

Eve and Ceri doing more work on the set for 4798, with Laura cutting more moquette shapes in the background.

Ben is attending to Z section corrosion on 4798 ....

Ably assisted by Trevor, it seems the capping strip had detached itself from the outer skin.

Bob had drawn the short straw and was attending to a loose step, just another item for winter maintenance.

With me out of the way Bryan carries on with the last of the windows in 4798.

We also started making end steps for the Mica Van, photos will be next week.

Many thanks to Gerry and Eve for the photos.
