Wednesday 4th - bits and pieces
With some in and some out, it did become a day of many jobs.
Not quite full frame but it had to be done, 3850 working South to Cheltenham exchanging tokens.
Just Eve in upholstery today, recovering more seats for 4798 ..... when lifting was required she called for muscle in the workshop.
While on 4798, I was asked to weld several studs to make them captive for another window frame. It's very difficult to get low enough to see them (age related) so it was literally touch and go.
13326 with the door which likes to keep giving, the team proudly pose for the photo .
Trevor pressing on and taking measurements, these doors can be a challenge .
At the North end of 13326, Ainsley is doing a bit of housekeeping, doing his bit to keep the place tidy.
Outside the weather was cooperating, so Steve made a start on the next wagon project removing some very corroded angle. It will all be replaced with new section and fasteners, it will be shot blasted next week.
In the workshop Chris is carefully cleaning the windows to go back in 4798.
Bob is helping out in the paintshop, he normally works with the metal team. His skill with the brush has not gone unnoticed.
Alex is applying the second coat (I think) of cream to 4790.
A big welcome to Matt our new volunteer in the paintshop.
Finally for this Wednesday, Rex is drilling holes in the wood window retainers for 4798.
Many thanks to Gerry form the photos.
Great progress and wonderful pictures. Love the one of 5850. Nice to see it in wartime GWR black rather than the ubiquitous BR black.
