Tuesday 7th - A productive day with a welcome bonus

A very productive day considering that a number of our Tuesday staff are away.

Stu was first to start on SK 25488 and was soon out with the crimson top coat, beginning with the Malvern side south door. During the day both Bob and I were busy on this side of the coach; Bob roof painting and myself tidying up the window frames with paintable sealant.

Having painted the thin top panel on both sides, Stu moves back to the Cotswold side to begin painting the lower crimson section.

Richard worked on the south corridor connection where both David A. and I had already done a lot of work. Richard completed the painting inside the connection .....................

............... before getting on the tower scaffold to begin glossing above the connection.

The connection door needs some trimming at the base to prevent it from jamming and as such was removed ready for Robert to work on.

Bob top coated the Malvern side of the roof and by so doing completed the roof repainting.

A view of the repainted Cotswold side of the roof. The gutter will be repainted in due course.

The Cotswold side of 25488 at the end of the day.

The Malvern side with the first coat of crimson on the north end door. That filler needs to be sanded before we do anymore top coating on this side.

A final view from the south end. It's all coming along quickly now we are at the main  repainting stage.

More capping strips are being added to the doorways on the Cotswold side of RBr 1675. Ainsley views the work so far on this doorway.

Further along the coach Robert is in the process of adding the final section of capping strip to the emergency doorway. A slight adjustment is required using a small anglegrinder to get into the top part of the door liner.

That really is a baby anglegrinder and very useful for those hard to get at places.

 The door now closes well.

Robert now fits the small top section of capping strip.

The special stands for temporary notices that were made for PWay were brought back in for extensions to be added. Alan gives them another coat of yellow paint to repair the scuffs.

Maurice cleans up the second of the two reconstructed U frames for the corridor connections on FK 13326 ..........................

............ before adding a coat of green anti-corrosive primer. The small frames in the middle were made by James last Saturday and will be mounted on the Malvern side wall of the Paintshop to protect the electrical connections for the sidelights.

The black painted steps and entrance on the Cotswold side of Tool Van 92.

Alex's latest instructions at the end of Saturday for 92, which Maurice updated with indicators for both work done and planned.

Later in the day a shower brought a welcome bonus and on stepping outside it was a joy to see.

  1. I did mention it before, but I think there should be a reminder about protecting knees by using a kneeler. I know of a car body repair man who wished he had used a kneeler, he's had to have operations on both knees.
