Saturday 8th - Canvas

A relatively quiet Saturday in C&W, but the trains looked well filled.

The main event today as far as some of us were concerned was fitting the canvas for the Mogo. This is the last 'big' job on it, everything else is just various small fittings.

The first half is loosely placed on to check fit, and the scaffold towers are in position ready for action.

As it's important to work fairly quickly for this operation, as well as Paul, Maurice and myself we co-opted Andy and Phil today to help out.

Paul got this photo taken from the mezzanine, it's all coming together.

And our little gang after completion of the main operation.

It still needs trimming, painting and battening, but Maurice was soon on the latter priming the battens.

After all the excitement, a trip up to the station to see 75014 roll in on a beautifully sunny day.

Back inside to see what everyone else was up to. John was getting his head round some brackets required in the RBr.

Simon and Alan were measuring floor bits in the saloon area...

And cutting to size.

Robert and Ben were looking through the RBr components in store in the Mink A, maybe hoping for inspiration...

It was just Jenny in upholstery today, with Laura in the coffeepot cafe, stapling on some more material for 4867.

A different outdoor job today, Dave decided it would be good to put some paint on the army RBr. I'm not sure if this is even in the restoration queue, if it is it's fairly near the bottom I should think, but at least this should slow down the rust.

I managed to grab a quick shot of it going past on the train today when I was guarding.

Finally replica name/number plate manufacture continues, the cabside plates got a splash of primer after the edges were sanded down to make them curved.

Pam was well on the way with the splasher nameplates too, using tins of paint as weights for the main parts.

And that was all for today, hope everyone had a nice break over Easter. I shall be glad to go back to work for a rest!
