Monday 3rd - Another tea break?

I know many of my pictures are tea breaks, but thta's because it's not easy to get round to everybody and do something useful! With 2 full rakes there was a lot to do today so details later. Here we have;-

(l to r) Kath, Rich, Tim, John, Paul, Lawrie. Greg and Nigel still in the trains working away.

The only working shot is Tim and Paul washing rake 2 (I was also with them).

Results of our efforts -Rake 1

Rake 2

But there was extra interest to rake 2. It just so happened that it had been stopped with the north end of the northernmost carriage exactly in line with the bottom of the slope on platform 2. This left the other end of the rake only very slightly beyond the platform slope at the other end. Now Tim (taller and younger than Paul and myself!) was able to reach the tops of the carriage at each end, so all 7 Cotswold sides got a wash this time. If we could do that for both rakes each week......? At the moment on rake 1 the north end carriage is right under the bridge so even higher (no ballast at the side) lots of signal wires and no room to stand back. So that part does not get cleaned.

Word coming from the inside team was that the carriages floors were very muddy. The grapevine says there was a large party of ramblers we could thank for that (but the cafĂ© takings were good...). So this time there was a lot of mopping to do.

Readers of the Broadway Blog will know that on Mondays 2 of their team sometimes turn up later in the morning, having been changing gas bottles at Toddington. Caught them this time

Well one of them, the other had just disappeared under the bridge.

Next week is Easter Monday and the trains are running and we are not allowed in to clean the visitors as well so back in a fortnight.
