Wednesday 1st - Heavy Metal

I must apologise to anyone, and there were a few I have missed in this blog. The team were flat out today

and I had 2 welders in place for different jobs, as I did one I moved to the next one .... it makes a for a challenging day.

First today is Geoff, the carpenters are very keen to get us 'bashers' out of the way so they can start on the new floor in 1675.

With this in mind Bryan and Rex were making sure the new side skirts are nice and straight, before welding. It was decided as long as the inside was fixed, the carpenters can carry on as we can finish the outside later.
A short break from welding and a chat with Ken about fasteners.

Rex has made a repair piece for the door frame, and was just finishing it as I breezed by.

This is either Bob or Chris removing a rather corroded piece of the MOGO

That is definitely Chris at the other end, all four top quarter panels were badly corroded. New 3mm plates
will be welded in.

Decision made, Phil is removing any remaining windows to treat or remove any corrosion.
It should be good for another 62 years.

John and Gerry were tasked to assemble the steel section for a new Token Platform at Gotherington.
Using a drawing and a flat floor it started coming together.

Just how big is this thing?

Too big, time to decamp to the jack road.

The final assembly went to Stuart on Thursday .......

John H at the bench ( not sure what he is doing ) .

John and Gerry cutting section for the previously mentioned platform.

When not taking photos I weld.

It was a very mixed day, we made good progress which will be followed on tomorrow. Most of the photos are by Gerry B, he has become very artistic with his phone and provides so much for these blogs.
Many thanks Gerry.
