Wednesday 3rd - To finish outstanding jobs ..... really

Almost impossible to park in the yard today, we had a good number in from many teams. We have a list of jobs which ideally could with finishing, but you know how it is there is always a Queen Mary brake van needing TLC.

Starting this week with Upholstery, here is our newest volunteer Stephen stripping a seat ready for refurbishment.  Welcome Stephen to C&W I am sure your skills will be very welcome.

Dave is always working, he never stops ..... mind you, non of the team do.

Assistance from Jenny.

Back ion the workshop, 16221 is providing hours of endless entertainment with doorfit. Its always difficult getting things precisely aligned, but we all put our bit in ........

We can and will re-do anything which is amiss.

34929 is still reluctant to go outside, here Dave is varnishing in the North end vestibule.

Phil is cleaning and lubricating door runner gear, he is laughing because I said I would video him but he hardly ever moves.

As I have said, so many jobs on the go. Ken is here cleaning and repairing sliding window frames.

A sneaky shot of Colin working in 16221, there is a long way to go but its coming along.

Multi skills are always useful, Gerry asked to be trained in the use of the plasma cutter. This involves all safety aspects, with Gerry's industrial background he soon picked it up. He was rather impressed as to how easy and good a job this invaluable machine does.

Finally, Bryan and Rex in their favourite place. Their remit being to design and make a lifting frame for the safe removal and re-fitting of vacuum brake cylinders. These are very heavy and awkwardly mounted, I did my bit just tack welding bits into place just to check the final fit.

I would point out, the welding is not done on this bench as it is mainly wood and is a fire risk. When its done and certificated I will show more pictures of it in use.

See you all at the weekend for the 40th anniversary gala.
