Tuesday 31st - Variety is the word

Another busy day with a variety of jobs underway.

Beginning with BSK 34929 and the north end Cotswold side door (Door 10), although there is still the budget lock to fit, we are able to progress this door and its entrance with any necessary filling and painting. Maurice is busy sanding filler that he has applied around the lower hinge. The entrance frame will also require some filler before being primed ready for painting.

On the Malvern side Phil was applying more undercoat on the guards door area. Both the upper and lower (shown to the right) masking tape seemed to be dropping down near the capping strip, and this was confirmed using out lining out gauge. The respective tapes were removed back to where they were in the correct position, the hard paint lines sanded down, and fresh tape correctly applied back to the capping strip.

Ainsley worked on the fitting of the left hand pillar for the Cotswold side central passenger door (Door 9).

Derek was modifying the threshold for the Cotswold side central door of CK 16221.

Having completed that he returned to the north vestibule to set up more of the support frame for the veneer panelling.

In the Upholstery shop Dave is busy rebuilding another seat base for TSO 5042.

In TK 24006 Dave was doing some more light sanding of the veneer in one of the south end compartments.

Later on he was in the south vestibule priming some of the wood ceiling beading that had previously been sanded.

Further work related to 24006 was again in hand on the Paintshop trestles with Alan applying a second coat of varnish to recently sanded panelling.

Prior to this Alan was second top coating our new store for our safety wire harnesses.

Alex undercoats more planking for the Mink A van.

He began his day preparing two sandwich boards from Toddington Station, prior to beginning the relevant signwriting.

A final photo before leaving for the day of Alex's completed boards. Toddington Station shop will be very pleased to have this displayed on the platform, as will our Railway Catering Services.
