Wednesday 20th - Wood, Seats and sparks

It's in the title, firstly all hands to offload a large delivery of timber.

We offloaded the truck first, as the driver had other deliveries .......

..... Then all hands to move it inside.

Meanwhile upstairs, in Upholstery it was all hands here as well. John and Jenny are recovering cab seats for Steam Locomotive 76077.

..... The completed items.

Laura is cutting yet more material for our new line of shopping bags.

Helen and Eve are stripping seats ready for recovering, for 4798 .......

........

Upon stripping these interesting dates  were found, possibly 1957 was manufacture and the others refurb dates.

In the ongoing story of 1675, two specialists joined us for the day to install the gas pipe and equipment for the on board generator.

.......

Bob and Steve are doing first fit of the generator covers, these will be re-moveable for servicing.

....... previously Bob was plasma cutting the panels.

Rex is cleaning up parts of the battery mounting cage prior to welding.

Moving back inside 1675, the carpenters aka 'The Chuckle Brothers'  continuing work on window surrounds.

That time already ..... Colin is going home .....

...... leaving David and Geoff to it.

Rod is doing some delicate sanding.

Not sure what Simon is doing, however it is wood and it is 1675.

Dave is attending to the ever growing number of items needing a coat of paint.

Still with 1675 Chris is preparing a very long section of guttering for re-attaching .....

...... Gerry will be helping him once this window is in.

Thats it for this Wednesday.

Many thanks to Eve and Gerry for the excellent photos.

  1. How often do the underframes of coaches get any restorative treatment? That in the view with the gas fitter below 1675 looks as though a good degree of shot blasting and repainting would be in order. David P

  2. I hope the covers for the generator equipment will be securely locked. Seeing as S&T Dept. have had some items of signalling equipment stolen from a bracket signal recently, there are some rather light-fingered people about!
