Wednesday 4th - New Year startup

With a need to finish 1675 North end re-construction, it was all hands to the pump. Only so many can use the scaffold at one time ( 2 max ), so the team spread out across a number of areas.

Chris set about making the temporary flooring a little more user friendly, ultimately this will all be renewed.

That's Chris inside, and Bob is removing a suspect section of a doorframe. The carpenters have requested that we can get a door frame ready for them to start and work their magic.

A bit out of focus, but that is the upper centre section of the North end. Gerry had made the new section and I welded it in, now a solid structure and almost ready for the fitting up of the corridor connector.

Gerry is giving it a coat of primer.

It's all happening down there ... photo by Gerry B.

The upholstery team, always creative have made these lovely covers for our welding machines. These will keep dust etc in check.

Finally for today, Colin is in deep discussion with Bob S.  Photo by Gerry B.

And I'll just sneak in with a bit from the evening wagon working; a small contingent of just the 3 of us to kick off the new year, doing a bit more on the Mogo.

The challenge was to try and remove all the plywood panels from the Southern half of the van. Surprisingly a reasonable number of nuts could still be wound off, but inevitably there were several awkward ones which we attacked with the angle grinder or gave a big wallop with a hammer and cold chisel as appropriate. Mike does the honours here, Mark looking on:

By 10:30pm, 4 panels are out, at which point we called it a night, good work gang!

Couldn't resist this picture too, what do we do with this one chaps??

Mark's headlight bulb blew, and why fumble around in the dark to change it when we have a nice lit workshop with an empty spot! This was where the BR vanfit was; now completed, it was shunted out earlier in the day.
