Thursday 5th - Progress and maintenance

Beginning Thursday's posting with more on the progress with RBr 1675 and the Metalwork Team. Many thanks to Gerry for the photos covering their work.

[Photo : Gerry]  The north end now looks complete with the central section welded in place and primed.

[Photo : Gerry]  Inside the kitchen area Byran prepares the new frame for the aluminium wall section that will blank off the unwanted doorway from the corridor.

[Photo : Gerry]  Using a lengthy metal bar as a straight edge, Rex uses the plasma cutter to produce the aluminium sheet at the required size.

[Photo : Gerry]  On the Malvern side Rex welded a new z section above one of the catering doors, followed by sections of panelling alongside the door frame.

With our main rakes now at Winchcombe, let the shutdown maintenance begin. TSO 4614 has been placed on the jack road in readiness. A paint repair has already been identified.

Meanwhile in the Main Rake in Platform 2, Dennis had gone aboard to begin cleaning the inside. However with the Christmas decorations taken down but still to be removed, the likely tinsel fallout would make this not worthwhile.

Repairs are already underway, in this instance a broken light in FO 3132 "Mary".

A Malvern side door on BSO 9000 will need a new back panel.

The refurbished Vanfit back in the PWay train.

The north end of the Mogo with some warning messages, but not working on this myself I don't know the reason for these. - So we've got something to look at when assembling the other end! -Ed.

The newly made drop down doors for the Mogo, the original one now in undercoat, while the later one is being primed by Martin.

The new tool cupboard having its second coat of the light green paint. It will be put back in the Workshop on Saturday, back-to-back with the Metalwork Team's cupboard, and will somewhat show the latter up. I wonder whether Metalwork will soon be asking to have theirs done as well?

Finally, over to CK 16221 with Jeff (and myself) using 240 paper to key the first coat of varnish.

Bob begins the second coat of varnish, once again doing most of the lower half of the coach, leaving just one panel on the Malvern side and all the doors (bar this one) and corners to do.

Bob now well into the Cotswold side, while in the background Phil begins the upper half.

Steve was in again, this time reattaching the metal covers for the corridor heating pipes.
