Wednesday 5th - Lets get started

The first day back for some of us, with 17 attending across all skills. It can get tricky finding everyone and recording their activity for this blog. To start we have the upholstery team on a tea break. Well thats what they said it was.

Next on my travels I found Colin and Geoff in 34929 doing some finishing touches to a door check strap, they always like to pose for a photo. These two are masters of their skill.

Then Bryan and Rex decided it was time to see what the TOAD was made of ......

Despite its age, it is not giving in very easily. We will be retaining rivets and attaching new metal with concealed welds.

John is working on an in-house project, making 2 frames to sit inside the yellow containers.

These will hold the axle pads, whilst they drain off solvent .....  the containers catch the residue.

I pointed out to do this blog, its necessary to be on the move ..... so back in the carpenters shop there was a lot of action. Trevor is making and fitting bespoke wood inserts into a door.

A nice view, illustrating the incredibly high standard achieved on 34929 ..... nearly finished.

Inside and out.

Please excuse the stainless steel grab handles, they are about to be re-fitted.

Dave is varnishing various panels and trims ready for the final touches.

Finally a view of the barn, the TOAD as previously mentioned is waiting in the cold. Believe me it can get very cold in there, but with a wooly hat and gloves we do brave it.
