Maintenance

Report by Graham

With trains starting again in April the usual suspects, plus some additional helpers from the main team, have been in to do some essential pre-running checks & maintenance. Everyone must be desperate for an excuse to get out, we had more people than usual and there weren’t many jobs left in the afternoon.

The same regular kind of checks reported in previous blogs have been done on the chocolate & cream rake and the maroon rake. A few things needed attention, e.g. getting tanks filled and toilets checked post winter draining.

Its a good job we have some long hoses!

Some electrical checks were done too…

One carriage battery on the maroon rake was showing a low voltage.

A wire had become un-crimped in one of the carriage connecting leads…

…and needed repairing.

Some of the carriages have a Bluetooth enabled onboard charger that can interrogate direct from a phone…

But to measure the overall current draw by the whole rake when on charge a separate meter is plugged in between the power supply and the rake…

See the previous more detailed blog article regarding the carriage electrics.
